Case Study: Vail and Aspen Garage and Basement Waterproofing Solution
The Problem:
Our client’s beautiful home in the Vail and Aspen area needed a waterproofing solution for their garage and basement. We provided the solution.
In the Rockies, de-icing salts create a problem for most homeowners. They keep the roads safe but drip on the concrete floor from melting snow and ice off cars and SUV’s. The resulting problem is decomposing concrete. The salts not only deteriorate the concrete but also open up cracks in the surface causing a rapid deterioration. This is followed by moisture which can seep into basements causing additional problems.
The Solution:
We ground the concrete to a smooth, flat surface, then repaired cracks and damaged concrete. As you can see in the photos we applied cove molding around all interior walls. Once the surface was properly prepared and moldings installed, we applied our coating in a Saddle Tan color with 1/16th inch decorative chips. We brought the coating up to the top edge of the moldings. This process, with a seamless surface, prevents water from getting under the walls.
The final result is a bright, clean, waterproof surface that protects the garage floor, walls and basement from potential damage. Any melting snow or rain water is easily pulled outside with a neoprene squeegee.
